Syrup Jars and Hoses
In order
to operate the original Hutchinson bottling table, the carbonated water
cylinder and Hutchinson filling head were connected via a rubber supply
hose utilizing a water connector such as this 40¢ example from the
W. H. Hutchinson and Son
1908 Bottler’s Book:
A hose from the desired syrup flavor jar (typically
located on a shelf above the table) was attached to a syrup gauge cock
such as this 75¢ example from the
W. H. Hutchinson and Son
1908 Bottler’s Book.
Syrup flavors were changed
by simply attaching (or opening a connection to) a hose from a different
syrup flavor jar:
