Georgia (Augusta)
Augusta On Glass by Bill Baab
This highly detailed and
profusely illustrated new volume caps 35 years of historical research
and development by Bill Baab, long-time collector of Augusta bottles,
and the FOHBC's well-known Southern Region editor. Augusta
On Glass
is chock full of well-written company and bottler histories, plus color
and black-and-white photographs of bottles and related go-with items,
advertisements, and vintage photos. Subtitled "Drops of history from
glass and pottery containers used by soda water manufacturers, whiskey
distillers, beer brewers, mineral water sellers and patent medicine men
in and around Augusta, Georgia," collectors, archaeologists, and history
buffs can only wish there were
similar reference sources for all states/cities/towns. Hopefully
publication of
Augusta On Glass
will inspire others to start/finish similar efforts for their particular
area(s) of interest.
The accompanying images show the front cover, examples of vintage advertisements and photos, and typical bottle illustrations.
